Dean Young is the author of six books of poetry:
Elegy on Toy Piano (2005), Skid (2002), and
First Course in Turbulence (1999), all from University of Pittsburgh Press; and Beloved
Infidel (Hollyridge Press, 2004), Strike
Anywhere (University of Colorado
Press, 1995), and Design with X (Wesleyan University Press, 1988).
He has received fellowships from the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown,
the National Endowment for the Arts, and the John Simon Guggenheim
Memorial Foundation, and he has been a Wallace Stegner Fellow at
Stanford University. His poems have appeared in many magazines,
including Ploughshares, Threepenny Review, Fence, and Jubilat,
and they have been selected for five editions of The Best American
Poetry. He teaches at the Iowa Writers' Workshop and in the Warren
Wilson MFA Program.
