Kimberly L. Becker’s first book of poetry, Words Facing East, will be published by WordTech Editions in 2011. Her poems are included in the recent anthologies I Was Indian (FootHills 2009), Letters to the World (Red Hen Press, 2008), and the Kakalak Anthology of Carolina Poets (2008). Her work has also appeared in Eclectica Magazine, Future Earth Magazine, Yellow Medicine Review, and Redheaded Stepchild. Becker is the recipient of a creative projects grant from the Montgomery County Arts and Humanities Council, and was a finalist for the DeNovo Award from C&R Press. She lives in Maryland where she works adapting Cherokee myths into plays for the Cherokee Youth in Radio Project.
