GEORGE FERRANDI
Performing The Prosthetics of Joy
New York artist George Ferrandi presents a March 21, 2014 live performance of The Prosthetics of Joy, a multi-media one-act play where the players, the set, and the costumes are indivisible.
During the play, the artist reconstructs a specific photograph from the inside out. The photo is of forty or so children at a party dressed like serious adults—in little suits and fedoras—in the midst of a unanimous and literal jump for joy. The children from the photo are played by University of Alabama at Birmingham students, faculty and staff.
