MYRON HELFGOTT | An Inventory of My Thoughts
Gallery Seven
Though he often speaks of problem solving from a technical point of view, when one examines his work, it is clear that technical considerations are always used in support of content, of something more all-encompassing than pure formal invention. . . . This becomes clear in the series of mixed-media sculptural works incorporating audio and kinetics that Helfgott began making in 2000. . . . The first of these newer time-based works, A Film in Three Chapters and an Epilogue (2000), includes various moving components and audio text, its four wall-mounted sections unfolding in time as viewers move around the gallery from “chapter” to “chapter” listening to the audio.
