Oscar Micheaux’s Within Our Gates
Within Our Gates was written, directed, and produced by Oscar Micheaux and stars Evelyn Preer as Sylvia Landry. The film was thought lost until a single surviving print, under the title La Negra, was found in an archive in Madrid. The Library of Congress restored the print and translated the intertitles from Spanish back into English in the 1990s.
