On January 29, 2015, VCU’s Visiting Writers Series hosted a reading by poet Stephen Dunn and non-fiction writer Barbara Hurd at Scott House. For the event, Hurd read a braided essay from her forthcoming book Listening to the Savage/River Notes and Half-Heard Melodies (University of Georgia Press, 2016) entitled “Listening to the Same River Twice: Theme and Variations.” Pulitzer Prize winner Dunn read from his fifteenth collection of poems, Lines of Defense (W.W. Norton, 2014).
