Kelly Cherry is the author of twenty-five books of fiction, poetry, and nonfiction; ten chapbooks; and translations of two classical plays. Her latest books are Quartet for J. Robert Oppenheimer: A Poem (Louisiana State University Press, 2017), and the flash fiction collection Temporium (forthcoming from Press 53, 2017). A former Poet Laureate of the Commonwealth of Virginia, Cherry has received the William Walker Award for Lifetime Achievement in Southern Letters, the Hanes Award for Poetry from the Fellowship of Southern Writers, fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts and The Rockefeller Foundation, a USIS Arts America Speaker Award, The Weinstein Prize in Poetry, The Phillabaum Award, and the Lifetime Achievement Award from UNC-G. Cherry is an Emeritus member of the Electorate of Poets Corner at the Cathedral Church of Saint John the Divine in New York City.
