Bernard Martin’s professional career includes over fifty individual exhibitions and more than two hundred group exhibitions. His work is included in numerous public and corporate collections, including the Chrysler Museum of Art, the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, the Smithsonian American Art Museum, and in other national and international private collections. He is the recipient of a Theresa Pollak Prize for Excellence in the Arts from Richmond Magazine and an individual research grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. Bernard Martin is an emeritus professor of painting at Virginia Commonwealth University where he was the first chair of the Department of Painting and Printmaking.
