Clara Silverstein is currently a writer and
editor at the Boston Herald. Her articles and op-ed essays
have also been published in the Boston Phoenix, Boston
Parents' Paper, Chicago Parent, and the Richmond
Times-Dispatch. Her poems have appeared in magazines including
Blackbird, The
Comstock Review, Sow's Ear, Sojourner, The
Larcom Review, and Peregrine. She has twice been a winner
in the New England Writers annual Free Verse Competition, with
a 2002 selection by Yusef Komunyakaa. She is Program Director of
the Writers' Center at Chautauqua, a nine-week summer series of
poetry and prose workshops at the Chautauqua Institution. Her memoir
White Girl: A Story of School Desegregation is forthcoming from
the University of Georgia Press.
