Richard Bausch has taught
creative writing at the University of Michigan, the University
of Virginia, the Bread Loaf Writers'
Conference, the University of the South, and George
Mason University, where he held the Heritage Chair. His nine novels
include Hello to the Cannibals (HarperCollins, 2002), In
the Night Season (HarperCollins, 1998), Mr.
Field’s
Daughter (Linden Press, 1989), and The Last Good Time (Doubleday,
1984). His stories have appeared
in numerous prize-winning
anthologies, including Best American Short Stories, The
O. Henry Prize Stories, and The Pushcart Prize: Best of
the Small Presses,
and have won two National Magazine Awards—one
for The New Yorker and one for The Atlantic Monthly.
They have most recently been collected in The Stories of Richard
Bausch (HarperCollins, 2003). He
is the co-editor of the Norton Anthology of Short Fiction,
and is a recipient
of the Lila Wallace-Reader's Digest Writer's Award and
the Award in Literature from the American Academy of Arts and Letters.
