JOSIP NOVAKOVICH

   Remote Love

Josip Novakovich moved from Croatia to the United States at the age of twenty. He has published a novel, April Fool’s Day (HarperCollins, 2004); three story collections, Infidelities: Stories of War and Lust (HarperCollins, 2005), Salvation and Other Disasters (1998) and Yolk (1995), both from Graywolf; and two collections of narrative essays. His work has been anthologized in Best American Poetry, the Pushcart Prize collection, and The O. Henry Prize Stories.

Novakovich has received a Whiting Writers’ Award, a John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Fellowship, two National Endowment for the Arts fellowships, the Ingram Merrill Award, and an American Book Award; and he has been a writing fellow of the New York Public Library. He teaches in the MFA program at Penn State University.
