KHALED MATTAWA A Conversation with Khaled Mattawa On November 27, 2007, Jeff Lodge and Patty Paine spoke with Khaled Mattawa, on Virginia Commonwealth University's Qatar campus, about his work as a writer and translator. Mattawa traveled to Doha to read his poetry as part of VCUQ’s, “Image, Word, and Voice,” a new series bringing visitors who “are committed to using either the image, the word, or both, to communicate what it means to be alive at the beginning of the 21st century.” In addition, Mattawa's poem “The Old House With Thee” appears in this issue of Blackbird.
