Miroslav Penkov was awarded the 2007 Eudora Welty Prize in Fiction from The Southern Review for his story “Buying Lenin.” He is also the recipient of two Lily Peter awards (2006, 2007) and the 2007–2008 Walton Fellowship in Fiction at the University of Arkansas, where he is pursuing an MFA in creative writing. He was born and raised in Bulgaria.
