Blackbird publishes new issues twice a year. The notion of “issue” is both a nod to the print journal and a way for us to call attention to the new work of a limited number of writers. However, publishing online allows us keep all issues available for reading, listening, and viewing. On this page, we wish to point you toward some of the content you may have missed but which still lives in our Archives.

		Sandra Beasley Sandra Beasley’s poetry in Blackbird dates back to v5n1, with “She Falls Asleep in Strange Places” and “The Minotaur Speaks” (v7n1). A series of her insightful book reviews appear in v7n1, v8n1, v9n2, v10n2, v11n1, and v11n2. Beasley is the author of two prize–winning poetry collections, I Was the Jukebox and Theories of Falling. Her most recent book is the memoir Don’t Kill the Birthday Girl: Tales from an Allergic Life. Three new poems appear in v12n2.

		R.H.W. Dillard R.H.W. Dillard published an essay in v2n1. In the same issue, Dillard was interviewed by Julia Johnson. His review of Christine Schutt’s Florida was published in v3n1, and a selection of poetry from his collection, What Is Owed the Dead, appeared in v5n1. In v9n1, he introduced a selection of Liana Quill’s poems. In v10n2, Dillard was reviewed by Randy Marshall, and interviewed by Sean Siobhan. A new poem, “Radical Primaticism,” appears in v12n2.

		Adrian Dorris Adrian Dorris’s story, “1–800–BUTTERBOLLY,” appeared in Blackbird v8n2, and his story “Dumb Noise” was published in v10n1. Dorris is the 2014 winner of the Rebecca Mitchell Tarumoto Short Fiction Prize for outstanding short fiction. His story, “Of Rivers and Caves,” published in this issue, v12n2, was selected by the editors from fiction submitted to Blackbird over the previous two-year period.

		Norman Dubie Blackbird began publishing Norman Dubie’s book-length futurist poem, The Spirit Tablets at Goa Lake, with “Book of the Jewel Worm” in v1n2. The other two sections, “Book of the Jaspers” and “The Book of the Crying Kanglings,” appeared in v2n1 and v2n2 respectively. A master menu connects the sections across the three issues. Five poems appear in v7n1, seven poems in v10n1, and four poems in v11n2. Three new poems appear in v12n2.

		Anne Germanacos Anne Germanacos’s fiction first appeared in Blackbird with the story “Adam and Eva” in v5n1. Germanacos appeared again in v6n1, with her story “Until We Go to Sleep,” and was included in the v6n1 Introductions Reading Loop. An essay offering insight to her creative process can also be found as part of the v6n1 Tracking the Muse feature. A new story, “At This Moment,” appears in v12n2.

		Julie Hensley Julie Hensley’s short story, “Expecting,” can be found in v10n1. A companion essay entitled “Nursing Art” also appeared in v10n1, taking readers through the development of her story. Her poetry chapbook, The Language of Horses, an exploration of childhood in Big Stone Gap, Virginia, has since been published by Finishing Line Press. A new short story from Hensley, “At the Bottom,” appears in v12n2.

		Anna Journey Anna Journey’s first appearance in Blackbird can be found as far back as v4n1 with her review of Steve Gehrke’s book of poems, The Pyramids of Malpighi. Additional reviews appear in v5n2 and v6n1. Six poems are included in v8n1, and three more appear in v11n2. In v9n2, a talk, titled “Seducing the Nymph from the Tree: Larry Levis, Metamorphosis, and Elegy,” was published and presented as part of the “Levis Remembered” reading loop. A new essay appears in v12n2.

		Dan O'Brien Dan O’Brien’s drama can be found as far back as v2n2, when Blackbird published his play Key West, in its entirety. The presentation of Key West in v2n2 is accompanied by an audio recording of the second act. O’Brien appeared again in v6n1 with his play, The Dear Boy, which includes a short introduction written by the author. The first two scenes from his historical drama, The House in Hydesville, appear in v12n2.

		Catherine Pierce Catherine Pierce debuted in Blackbird with two poems, “Domesticity” and “This Is Not An Elegy,” published in v5n1. Three poems of a series appeared in v6n2, and five more poems, later included in her collection The Girls of Peculiar, appeared in v10n1. Three new poems appear in v12n2. Audio of Pierce reading her poems during the Blackbird/Diode Reading (AWP 2013) also appears in v12n2.

		Diane Seuss Diane Seuss’s poetry first appeared in Blackbird v6n1 with two poems. Two more poems are published in v8n1. In v10n2, Seuss appears again with the poem, “Either everything is sexual, or nothing is. Take this flock of poppies,” which was selected to be reprinted in The Pushcart Prize XXXVII: Best of the Small Presses (2013 edition). Three new poems appear in v12n2.

		Brian Teare Poetry from Brian Teare first appeared in v4n1, with “As if from Letters of Surveyor Samuel Maclay (Spring, 1790)” and “Lent Prayer.” Three of his poetry collections have been reviewed in v3n2, v9n1, and v10n2 by Susan Settlemyre Williams, who writes in v10n2, “Teare uses language . . . to explore a fragmented universe, with rifts running not only through the physical and emotional world but also between that world and God.” Four new poems are included in v12n2.

		Tomas Tranströmer In the spring of 2011, the v10n1 issue of Blackbird featured Patty Crane’s new translation, along with the poems in the original Swedish, of 2011 Nobel laureate and Swedish poet Tomas Tranströmer’s 1996 book Sorgegondolen (Sorrow Gondola). In v12n2, David Wojahn offers a compelling meditation on literary friendship and correspondence in "Unlikely Magic, on Airmail: The Letters of Robert Bly and Tomas Tranströmer."
