
Michele Poulos is an award-winning screenwriter, filmmaker,  and poet. She is the director and producer of A Late Style of Fire, a documentary film about the late poet Larry  Levis. Her original screenplay, Mule Bone  Blues, won the 2010 Virginia Screenwriting Competition. She is the author  of the poetry collection Black Laurel (Iris Press, 2016) and the chapbook A  Disturbance in the Air, winner of the 2012 Slapering Hol Press Chapbook  Competition. Her poetry and prose has appeared in Best New Poets 2012, The  Southern Review, Crab Orchard Review, Copper Nickel, Sycamore Review, Stone Canoe, Blackbird, and elsewhere. She earned  a BFA in film from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. She also holds an MFA in  fiction from Virginia Commonwealth University, and an MFA in poetry from  Arizona State University.  ![]()
