Dennis Hinrichsen is the author of Skin Music, winner of the 2014 Michael Waters Poetry Prize from Southern Indiana Review Press. His previous books include Rip-tooth (University of Tampa Press, 2011), winner of the 2010 Tampa Poetry Prize; Kurosawa’s Dog (Oberlin College Press, 2008), winner of the 2008 FIELD Poetry Prize; and Detail from The Garden of Earthly Delights (University of Akron Press, 1999), winner of the 1999 Akron Poetry Prize. His poems have appeared in The American Journal of Poetry, Michigan Quarterly Review, Salamander, and Third Coast. He lives in Lansing, Michigan, and served as the area’s first poet laureate from 2017 through 2019.
