John Dufresne is the author of Deep in the Shade of Paradise. His other work includes a collection of short stories, The Way That Water Enters Stone (1991) and the novels Louisiana Power & Light (1994) and Love Warps the Mind a Little (1997). Louisiana Power & Light has also been written as a screenplay. Dufresne is a professor at Florida International University.
