JAMES SEAY

James Seay is the author of the books of poetry Open Field, Understory (Louisiana State University Press, 1997), The Light as They Found It (William Morrow & Co, 1990), Water Tables (Wesleyan University Press, 1974), Let Not Your Hart (Wesleyan University Press, 1970), and limited editions from Deerfield/Gallery and Palaemon Press. Seay is the coauthor of the documentary film In the Blood (1989), along with George Butler. His poetry and essays have appeared in Harper’s Magazine, The New Yorker, Oxford American, and elsewhere. He is the recipient of numerous awards, including an Award in Literature from the American Academy of Arts and Letters (1988). He is professor emeritus at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  end
