Mary Gordon is McIntosh Professor of English at Barnard College, and is the author of numerous novels, memoirs, short story collections, and essays, including most recently the novel Pearl (2005), the memoir Circling My Mother (2007), both from Pantheon Books, as well as the short story collection The Stories of Mary Gordon (Anchor Books, 2007), which won The Story Prize in 2007. She is the recipient of several awards including a Guggenheim Fellowship, the Lila Acheson Wallace Reader’s Digest Award, and an Academy Award for Literature from the American Academy of Arts and Letters.
