Katie Jean Shinkle is the author of two poetry chapbooks, The Sadness of July (dancing girl press, 2012) and Julysleep (Gold Wake Press, 2012), as well as a small book of prose, As Close to Smiling As You Can Get (The Cupboard, 2012). She is a doctoral candidate in creative writing at the University of Denver.
