Claire Keyes is the author of one book of criticism, The Aesthetics of Power: The Poetry of Adrienne Rich (University of Georgia Press, 1986), and one collection of poetry, The Question of Rapture (Mayapple Press, 2008). Her reviews, essays, and poems have appeared in Prairie Schooner, The Women’s Review of Books, Spoon River Poetry Review, Valparaiso Poetry Review, and Rattle, among others. The recipient of a grant in poetry from the Massachusetts Cultural Council, she also received a poetry fellowship from the Helene Wurlitzer Foundation of New Mexico. She is a professor emerita at Salem State University, where she taught for thirty years and served as English department chair and coordinator of the graduate English programs. Keyes teaches poetry courses for the Salem State College Explorers Life Learning Institute.
