Stanley Plumly is the author of eight collections of poetry, including Orphan Hours (W.W. Norton & Co., 2012), and Old Heart (W.W. Norton & Co., 2007) which won the 2007 Los Angeles Times Book Prize and the 2008 Paterson Poetry Prize, and was a finalist for the 2007 National Book Award. He is the author of two books of nonfiction, including Posthumous Keats: A Personal Biography (W.W. Norton & Co., 2008), which was runner-up for the 2009 PEN/Jacqueline Bograd Weld Award for Biography. In 2010 he was elected to membership in the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. Plumly is a Distinguished University Professor at the University of Maryland, College Park.
