Benjamin Boone is a jazz saxophonist and composer. His most recent album, The Poetry of Jazz (Origin Records, 2018), features the narration and poetry of US Poet Laureate and Pulitzer Prize–winner Philip Levine. Boone has received over eighteen national and international awards and honors for his music, which has appeared on twenty-six CDs and has been performed at venues including Carnegie Hall and the Kennedy Center. Volume two of The Poetry of Jazz, featuring the remaining tracks recorded with Levine, is forthcoming in January 2019. Boone is a professor of music at California State University, Fresno.
