It's both industrial rubber bands and this is the first time that
I use shoelaces, moving a little bit closer to this kind of autobiographical
stance with the work.
My mother taught
me how to crochet, so I was kind of looking for a way to represent
my father's side of the family. My grandfather had a shoe repair
shop in Manhattan, in New Jersey, and in Brooklyn with his brother-in-laws.
So that seemed like a great way to do it.
