LEVIS REMEMBERED | Found Portrait

Levis at Laurel and China

Larry Levis

This portrait of Larry Levis with lines from his poem, “Boy in a Video Arcade” appeared in spring 2007 at the corner of Laurel and China streets in Richmond, Virginia. It mimics a grafitti drawing but is actually painted plywood bolted to a street sign. A similar image appeared earlier in the winter on a side street in Richmond’s Fan District but was gone by the time we returned to document it.

The artist is unknown, and the Laurel Street image remains in situ.  end of text
