Yasmine Rana is the recipient of a
Walter E. Dakin Fellowship in Playwriting from the Sewanee Writers’ Conference.
Rana’s plays have been produced, developed, and publicly
read at theaters and festivals in the United States and internationally,
including Circle East Theater, Second Stage Theatre’s DestiNation
America Project, HERE’s American Living Room Festival, and
many others. Her plays and monologues have been published in The
Best Stage Scenes of 1999 and The Best Women’s Monologues
of 1999 (both from Smith and Kraus, 2001), Alabama Literary
Review,
and U. S. 1 Worksheets. She is also a registered drama therapist
and has worked with refugees in Bosnia-Herzegovina, the Republic
of Georgia, and Switzerland. She received her BFA and MFA in Dramatic
Writing from New York University, where she received a Paulette
Goddard Fellowship. She also holds an MAT and clinical certificates
in Creative Arts Therapies from New School University and in International
Trauma Studies from NYU.
