Born in 1970, Margrét Blöndal studied in Reykjavik, Iceland and at the Mason Gross School of the Arts, Rutgers University, in New Jersey, from which she graduated in 1997. Recent solo exhibitions include installations at the Reykjavik Art Museum, Galleria Alessandra Bonomo in Rome, Mother's Tankstation in Dublin, and Solvent Space in Richmond, Virginia (all in 2007). Recent group exhibitions include The Icelandic Visual Arts Awards at the Akureyri Art Museum, Strip: Images in Line at Kunstverein Baselland/Muttenz-Switzerland (both in 2006), Work Time, Life Time, Material Time, curated by Jessica Morgan for the Reykjavík Art Festival (2005), and Buenos Días Santiago: an exhibition as expedition at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chile. Blöndal has, among other places, been an artist in residence at Art Omi, New York (2005) and at The Chinati Foundation, Marfa, Texas (2000). She currently lives in Reykjavik.
