Buttoned-down shirt fisted at the chest hairs. STOP. Blur of oriole in rain. STOP. Light and its limitations. Its dazed transparency. What had/has he gotten away with. STOP. Due to what in you. STOP STOP STOP STOP. That you went to puppet. STOP. Were you ever more than string and wood? STOP STOP STOP. Light became accomplice—STOP—a blinkless criminal. STOP. It might have been another season, another country. It might have been a gun and not a knife. But it was his world. This world.  end
