1918 Suite: Enough of Us Still and Brave Enough
André Géraud (1882–1974) was a French journalist who wrote under the pseudonym Pertinax, which is Latin for “resolute.” During World War I, he joined the French Army and worked as an interpreter for British units fighting alongside the French. He became foreign editor of L’Echo De Paris in 1917. Until 1938, he wrote an article every weekday under his pseudonym. In 1940, after France fell in World War II, he left for America, where he continued to write in exile.
