Fowziyah Abu-Khalid, born in Riyadh, holds a BA in sociology from Lewis & Clark College, Portland, Oregon, USA; an MA in sociology from King Saud University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia; and a PhD in political sociology from the University of Salford, Manchester, UK. Since 1974, she has published five poetry collections and two books of children’s literature. Her work has been included in several Arabic, German, and English anthologies, and she has presented her academic work at conferences worldwide. She has participated in numerous international poetry festivals, readings, and conferences, and she has served on the faculty at King Saud University for thirty years.
