Ghalya Al Said is a poet and writer from Oman, living and working in London. She completed her secondary education in England and earned a doctorate in international relations from Warwick University. She writes poetry in both English and Arabic and has published three novels in Arabic: Sineen Mubathara (2008), Sabra W’Assilah (2007), and Ayam Fil Jena (2005). She has participated in various conferences at the School of Oriental and African Studies, London, and at Leeds University, where she contributed to The Arab Diaspora: Voices of an Anguished Scream (Routledge, 2006). She is also a member of Chatham House, home of the Royal Institute of International Affairs. Her sketches are used regularly in the independent pan–Arab daily newspaper Al Quds Al–Arabi to illustrate poetry and short stories.
