Sandra Beasley is the author of two books of poetry: I Was the Jukebox (W. W. Norton & Co., 2010), which won the 2009 Barnard Women Poets Prize, and Theories of Falling (New Issues / Western Michigan University Press, 2008), which won the 2007 New Issues Poetry Prize. Her most recent book is the memoir Don’t Kill the Birthday Girl: Tales from an Allergic Life (Crown Publishers, 2011). Other honors include inclusion in the Best American Poetry 2010 (Scribner), the 2010 Summer Poet-in-Residence position at the University of Mississippi, a 2010 Artist Fellowship from the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities, the 2009 Friends of Literature Prize, and the Maureen Egen Exchange Award.
