R.T. Smith has been the editor of Shenandoah
since 1995. He has published two books of poetry, Trespasser
(1996) and Messenger (2001). His next books, Brightwood
and Hollow Log, will be published 2003. He has recent or
forthcoming works in The Atlantic Monthly, Poetry, New Stories
from the South, The Kenyon Review, The Southern Review, and
The Sewanee Review. He is the recipient of fellowships from
the National Endowment for the Arts, the National Endowment for
the Humanities, Arts International and the Irish Arts Council. He
won the 2001 Richard Hugo Award from Poetry Northwest.
