Sofia Starnes is the author of Corpus Homini: A Poem for Single Flesh (Wings Press, 2008), winner of the Whitebird Chapbook Series Prize, and A Commerce of Moments (Pavement Saw Press, 2003), winner of the Editor’s Prize in the 2001 Transcontinental Poetry Award Contest and recipient of the Honor Book distinction in the 2004 Virginia Literary Awards. She is also the author of The Soul’s Landscape (Aldrich Museum Press, 2002), one of two chapbooks selected by Billy Collins for the 2001 Aldrich Poetry Series Prize. Her next full-length book, Fully into Ashes, is forthcoming by Wings Press. Her poems have appeared in various journals, including Gulf Coast, Southern Poetry Review, Notre Dame Review, Hayden’s Ferry Review, Laurel Review, and Pleiades. Her work also appeared in Hawai’i Pacific Review’s Best of the Decade Issue (2007). She is the recipient of a fellowship from the Virginia Commission for the Arts, the Rainer Maria Rilke Poetry Prize, the Marlboro Prize in Poetry (Editor’s Choice), and the Christianity and Literature Poetry Prize.
