Louise Mathias was born in England and educated at the University of Southern California. Her first collection of poems, Lark Apprentice, was selected by Brenda Hillman for the New Issues Poetry Prize and published by New Issues Press in 2004. Mathias’s recent poems have appeared in Denver Quarterly, Triquarterly, The Laurel Review, Pool, and Perihelion. She lives in Long Beach, California, and works as a fundraising consultant.
