Steve Gehrke’s second book, The Pyramids
of Malpighi (Anhinga Press, 2004), won the 2002 Philip Levine
Prize in Poetry. His first book, The Resurrection Machine (BkMk
Press, 2000), won the 1999 John Ciardi Prize for Poetry. His
third book, Michelangelo’s Seizure, recently won
a National Poetry Series Award and will be published by the University
of
Illinois. Most
recently, his poems have appeared in The Georgia Review, Indiana
Review, and Mississippi Review. He has new poems
forthcoming in The Yale Review, Slate, The
Iowa Review, The Kenyon
Review, and other journals. He lives in Columbia, Missouri, where
he is a PhD student in creative writing.
